The Middle Tennessee Vocal Association (MTVA) Elementary Mass Choir is a one-day event for students in grades 4-6. For this event, there is no individual audition to participate. Each school’s music teacher must be a member of MTVA and NAfME to participate. There are two sessions to choose from for the day- 9:30-12:30 morning group rehearsal or 1:30-4:30 afternoon group rehearsal. The concert is at 6:30pm for both groups. This event is limited to 80 students per session.  Each school may bring at most 20 students. The music teacher registers their elementary choir for this event online and purchases the music for the chosen session. Students/teachers arrive for their session and work with the clinician for three hours. Then, students come back for the concert that evening. Students that attend the morning session leave after rehearsal and come back that evening, while students that attend the afternoon session eat dinner (either off-site or on-site) and then change and prepare for the concert. Students should have all music memorized before the date of the event. Directors are expected to remain on site and assist with all rehearsals, breaks, lunch/dinner, and the performance. Concert attire will be white shirt, black pants/skirts, and black shoes. Girls that choose to wear skirts must wear black hose with their skirt. The concert in the evening will not have an in-person audience; the event will be recorded and live streamed.
